Women's Health

A woman’s body goes through many changes, from puberty and pregnancy to menopause and beyond. Each stage brings unique health needs, from reproductive care and hormonal balance to heart health and emotional well-being.

Staying informed and proactive about your health can help you navigate the changes that come with each stage confidently.

At CAM Medical Group, we provide compassionate women’s health services tailored to your needs. From routine gynecology and diagnostic screenings to managing menopause and supporting heart health, we are here to be your trusted partner in wellness.

Routine Screenings & Preventive Care

Regular screenings are essential for early detection of serious conditions, such as cervical cancer, breast cancer, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). We offer screenings and preventive care services that help diagnose such concerns early so you can make informed decisions and prioritize your well-being.

Pap Smears & HPV Testing

A Pap smear (or Pap test) is a critical screening procedure used to detect abnormal cervical cells, which can develop into cervical cancer if left untreated. It also helps identify infections and inflammation that may need attention.

During a Pap smear, our physician collects a small sample of cells from your cervix (the lower part of the uterus). These cells are then sent to the lab to be examined under a microscope and checked for precancerous or cancerous changes.

We also offer HPV (Human Papillomavirus) testing, which can identify high-risk strains of the virus linked to cervical cancer. HPV testing is often done alongside a Pap smear for a comprehensive assessment of your cervical health, a combination known as co-testing.

Cervical cancer screening begins at age 21 but the recommended frequency depends on your age and medical history:

  • Ages 21-29: Pap smears begin at age 21 and should be done every three years. At age 25, some women may choose co-testing (Pap + HPV) every five years instead.
  • Ages 30-65: A Pap test with HPV co-testing is generally recommended every five years. In some cases, HPV testing alone may be an alternative.
  • Age 65 & Beyond: If you have a history of normal test results, you may no longer need routine screening. However, this decision should be made in consultation with our provider.

Breast Exams

Breast health is a top priority in women’s health, and regular breast exams are essential for early detection of potential issues, such as breast cancer. Our providers can perform clinical breast exams to check for lumps, changes in size, or skin irregularities that may signal underlying concerns.

If any abnormalities are detected, we also offer imaging services, such as ultrasounds, to help get a clearer picture of the state of breast tissue. When needed, we can provide mammogram referrals for further examination.

STD Testing & Treatment

Sexual health is an important aspect of your overall well-being. Many sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) do not show obvious symptoms, which is why regular STI screenings are crucial for maintaining your reproductive health.

At CAM Medical Group, we offer quick and confidential STD testing for a range of infections, including:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Syphilis
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Herpes
  • Hepatitis B

If an STD is detected, our team offers expert treatment and guidance to manage the infection effectively. We also offer counseling to help you understand how to protect your sexual health moving forward. Our goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you can feel comfortable discussing any concerns related to your sexual health.

With our lab and diagnostic services, we make it easy for you to get the screenings and treatments you need, all in one place.

Reproductive Health & Contraceptive Counseling

We offer reproductive health services, contraceptive counseling, and menstrual health management.

Birth Control Counseling

Selecting the right birth control method is a personal decision, and we understand that every woman’s needs are unique.

Our providers take the time to listen to your concerns, evaluate your health history, and consider your reproductive goals when recommending the best contraception option for you.

We provide guidance on various birth control methods, including:

  • Oral contraceptives: Convenient and effective pills that regulate menstrual cycles and prevent pregnancy.
  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs): Long-term, low-maintenance options that offer reliable pregnancy prevention with minimal side effects.
  • Hormonal implants: A small device inserted under the skin that provides continuous birth control for up to three years.
  • Barrier methods: Non-hormonal options like condoms or diaphragms that protect against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Menstrual Health Care

Menstrual issues, such as irregular, painful, or heavy periods, can significantly impact your quality of life. These symptoms can also indicate underlying health conditions that require medical attention.

If you are experiencing menstrual health concerns, our team will conduct a detailed evaluation and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Menopause & Hormonal Health

Menopause is a natural transition in a woman’s life, marked by the end of menstrual cycles and significant hormonal changes. These shifts can lead to a range of symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and bone density loss.

Our physicians provide personalized care plans to help manage menopause symptoms and support your overall health. Our treatment plan includes:

  • Lifestyle modifications: Dietary adjustments, weight management, and exercise recommendations to ease menopausal symptoms.
  • Supplement guidance: Nutritional support for bone health and natural remedies to help manage hormonal changes.
  • Medication management: Non-hormonal prescription options to address severe menopause symptoms when needed.

Heart Health & Cardiovascular Care

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among women. Symptoms of heart disease often present differently in women than in men.

We take a proactive approach to women’s heart health by focusing on early detection, prevention, and personalized care. Our diagnostic testing services offer a range of tests to assess your heart health and detect potential problems early:

  • Electrocardiograms: A non-invasive test that measures the electrical signals that control your heartbeat.
  • Stress echo: This test evaluates heart function under stress, helping detect issues such as coronary artery disease.
  • Cholesterol & Lipid Panel Testing: We monitor your LDL ("bad" cholesterol), HDL ("good" cholesterol), and triglyceride levels to assess your overall cardiovascular risk.
  • Blood pressure monitoring: We offer continuous blood pressure monitoring to ensure your readings stay within a healthy range.

Based on your results, our team develops personalized treatment plans to help you achieve optimal heart health. This may include:

  • Nutritional counseling: Eating a heart-healthy diet reduces risk factors, such as high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Our experts guide balanced, nutrient-rich meals that support optimal heart health.
  • Weight loss support: If weight management is a concern, we provide personalized plans that promote gradual, sustainable weight loss. Losing weight can significantly reduce the strain on your heart and improve overall health.
  • Exercise and lifestyle modifications: Regular physical activity is one of the most important factors in heart health. We help you develop an exercise plan that fits your needs and abilities, encouraging a more active and heart-healthy lifestyle.
  • Medication management: We offer personalized medication management services for those who require medications to manage heart health. This includes prescribing and monitoring medications such as cholesterol-lowering statins or blood pressure medications. Our team works with you to adjust and monitor your prescriptions continuously.

Osteoporosis Prevention & Bone Health

As women age, hormonal changes, particularly the decline in estrogen levels during menopause, can significantly impact bone density. This can increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

Our team takes a proactive approach to your bone health. Our services include:

  • Calcium and Vitamin D supplementation guidance: Calcium and vitamin D play a crucial role in bone strength and regeneration. We provide personalized recommendations on dietary sources and supplements to help maintain strong, healthy bones.
  • Lifestyle and nutritional counseling: A well-balanced diet, regular weight-bearing exercise, and other healthy habits are essential for long-term bone health. We offer guidance to help you build and sustain these habits effectively.
  • Medication management and osteoporosis treatment: If osteoporosis or osteopenia (early-stage bone loss) is detected, we discuss treatment options, including medications that slow bone loss and promote bone formation.

Sexual & Emotional Well-Being

Mental, emotional, and sexual health are material for women's well-being. Hormonal changes, life transitions, stress, and underlying medical conditions can all impact a woman’s overall wellness.

At CAM Medical Group, we understand the importance of addressing all facets of your health.

Our team provides a safe and supportive environment where you can openly discuss your concerns. Whether you are dealing with emotional stress, changes in mood, or challenges with sexual health, we are committed to helping you feel heard, understood, and supported.
